The Tuition Sight

Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to everyone who uses thetuitionsight.site ("the site"). By using the site, or by registering as a tutor, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. What the site offers

  • Free learning resources: past year papers, tests, worksheets, study aids, presentations and videos for personal, non-commercial study.
  • A tutor directory: tutors place adverts so parents and learners can find them.

The Tuition Sight is an advertising platform only. We are not a tutoring agency and we do not employ, vet, supervise or guarantee any tutor. Lessons, fees, times and venues are agreed directly between the tutor and the family, and The Tuition Sight is not a party to that agreement.

3. Tutor accounts and adverts

  • Tutors must be at least 18 years old and must give true, current contact details.
  • Advert text and images must be your own, honest and lawful. Don't make false claims about qualifications.
  • We may review, edit for formatting, decline, suspend or remove any advert that breaks these terms, without refund for the period affected.
  • You are responsible for the safety and conduct of your own lessons, including any lessons with minors.

4. Advertising fees

  • Advertising is currently free. When fees apply, the price per advert per month is shown before you pay (starting at R30 per month). All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • You choose a term (number of months) when you register or renew. You can pay the whole term at once, or by monthly debit order for the length of the term.
  • Payments are processed by PayFast. Card details are entered on PayFast's secure page and are never seen or stored by The Tuition Sight.
  • Price changes apply only to new registrations and renewals, never to a term you have already paid for or agreed to.

5. Monthly debit orders

  • If you choose monthly payments, you authorise PayFast to charge your card the monthly amount on about the same date each month until the term ends. The debit order then stops automatically.
  • If a monthly payment fails, your advert may be marked "payment overdue" and may be paused until payment is made.
  • You can cancel future debit orders at any time. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Renewals

When your term ends, your advert stops unless you renew. Nothing renews automatically past the term you chose.

7. Learning resources

Resources are provided for personal study. Many are official examination papers published by education departments and examining bodies, and their copyright remains with those owners. Don't resell or republish resources. If you believe a file infringes your rights or contains an error, contact us and we'll review or remove it promptly. Download limits may apply.

8. Limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, The Tuition Sight is not liable for any loss arising from lessons arranged through the site, a tutor's or family's conduct, errors in resources, or the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

9. Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms, and the date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes will be communicated to registered tutors. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
